/FESTIVAL

- By DAISY JACKSON

MOOVIN Festival is back in Stockport this bank holiday weekend, featuring DJ sets and live performances from some of the biggest names in dance, house, funk & soul, reggae and R&B.

Although the festival site is small, tucked away in Etherow Country Park in the village of Compstall, the line-up is massive.

This year’s headliners will include Groove Armada, Goldie, and De La Soul. They’ll be joined by Craig Charles, Dub FX and Cold Cut at the annual clubbing festival.

As well as live music and DJ sets, there will be yoga, Thai chi and a silent disco.

Former Haçienda manager Paul Fletcher is the man behind Moovin, as well as the hugely popular Haçienda Classical events.

He said: “The vision has always been to throw the best party possible whilst keeping the friendly intimate vibe.

“We just book acts and performers who we love and luckily it seems to attract a super cool crowd, which is a massive part of the festival.

“We really go to town on the sound systems, lighting and decor, as well as a few surprises that we don’t advertise, then throw in the actual beauty of the site and it really is a festival like no Udder... Sorry, no more cow jokes!

“This year we are bringing headliners De La Soul to Stockport, which is something I thought I would never say, with their full live band. I think that will be very special in the unique Barn Stage. We also like to keep a local feel to the festival with a host of Mancunian performers, bands and DJs.”

The festival takes place from today (Friday) until Sunday, and is easily accessed from Manchester and Stockport.

The site is an eco farm, which means only a limited number of vehicles are allowed on site - but there are car parks nearby and shuttle buses running to festival site itself.

Weekend tickets cost £93.50 including booking fee - camping is an additional £22. Day tickets are £27.50 for the Friday and £55 for Saturday or Sunday.
