Oh brother, Ryan will be a big hit!

-

CORONATION Street favourite Kym Marsh has given her verdict on her former co-star, Ryan Thomas, starring in the Celebrity Big Brother house. Kym, who plays Michelle Connor in the ITV1 soap, reckons that Ryan will spice up the house with his ‘outspoken’ nature and will be far from boring, although she has jokingly warned that he can be a tad cranky in the mornings.

Ryan, from Salford, played Jason Grimshaw in Coronation Street from 2000 to 2016 and earlier this year he played the mysterious backpacker Rafael Humphreys in Neighbours.

Speaking in her latest column in this week’s issue of OK! Magazine Kym said: “He’ll make an interesting, colourful character and that’s what people want to see.

“He won’t be boring and he’ll be outspoken but very kind and funny as well. Although I have to say, he’s not always a morning person.

“I remember that from when we’d had early scenes on the Corrie set. He’s happier once he’s woken up, like the majority of us.

“So it will be interesting to see how he is, especially when he’s sharing a bedroom with all of those other contestants!” Ryan, who has a nine-year-old daughter Scarlett with his ex, Tina O’Brien, who plays Sarah Platt in Corrie, is on the Channel Five reality show with housemates including former Emmerdale star, Roxanne Pallett, from Cheshire, and Hollywood star Kirstie Alley. Ryan has been made vice president of the house from a public vote and Kirstie is president. He raised laughs when he was caught sleeptalking about his role while sharing a room with former Cheers actress Kirstie.

His younger brother, Scott, who nattered in his sleep about spiders on the ITV2 dating show Love Island, tweeted about the moment: “Hahaha, this is so jokes! Surely he can’t be asleep! Made my night! Looks like sleeptalking runs in the family.”

Speaking previously about his decision to take part, Ryan said: “I’m doing Celebrity Big Brother for a new challenge, new experiences and hopefully for people to see the real me.”
