Students preparing for life at Cambridge

-

TEACHERS and pupils at Cheadle Hulme High School celebrated a bumper year of A-level results.

Nearly a third of students achieved a three or more A* or A grades with 77 per cent of all grades at A*-B.

More than 70pc of their of students have been accepted at their first-choice university with many going to top universities.

Students Harriet Ruane and Megan Johnson are looking forward to life at Cambridge University after scooping straight As.

Harriet, who scored two A*s and an A, is going to Trinity College to read classics, and Megan, who achieved three A*s, is off to Girton to read modern and medieval languages.

“I can’t quite believe it. I’ve been feeling really nervous,” said Harriet.

And Megan, who has ambitions to become an interpreter, added: “I’m really happy about my results and looking forward to going to Cambridge.”

Their headteacher, Linda Magrath, said: “We are extremely proud of the achievements of all our students.

“These results are very well deserved – our students have worked so hard and we wish them the best of luck as they head off to the next stage of their lives.

“We are driven to provide young people with the best possible start in life. At the heart of this is our belief that for so many years there hasn’t been a level playing field for students who are educated in the state sector. As Cheadle Hulme High School shows, that ‘norm’ is being challenged every day.”
