Passing all tests with flying colours

YOUNG people across Rochdale were jumping for joy as they opened their A-level results.

Rochdale Sixth Form College celebrated 99 per cent pass rate with 55pc of grades at A* to B.

Pupils at the college beat the national average for top grades for the seventh year running.

More than 80pc of their students are moving on to higher education, including Russell Group universiti­es, as well as Oxford and Cambridge.

Ameerah Latif is heading to St Hilda’s College at Oxford after scooping an A* a year early in maths.

Ameerah also got an A* in chemistry, A* in the EPQ, A in biology and an A in English literature.

She said: “I’m delighted with my results and looking forward to continuing my studies at Oxford.”

Richard Ronksley, principal at Rochdale Sixth Form College and CEO of the Altus Education Partnershi­p, said: “What a fantastic morning we’ve had.

“Since 8am we’ve had smiles beaming across the corridors with students, parents and teachers all rushing around to wish everybody luck and congratula­te them on their results. The outstandin­g achievemen­ts of our students really demonstrat­es that hard work does pay off and I’d like to thank all of the students and staff for their dedication and commitment to excellence in education.

“Rochdale Sixth Form College has an enviable reputation for outstandin­g results and I’m delighted to see that we’ve once again achieved a 99pc pass rate.

“We are immensely proud of each and every one of our students and wish them the very best of luck in

their future endeavours.”
