Aces looking to collect two victories in double-header

- By HAYLEY BROMLEY

BELLE Vue face a crucial Bank Holiday double-header against Wolverhampton today.

The first clash is in Manchester, starting at noon – with the return fixture in the Black Country at 8pm.

The race for the play-offs is entering a critical phase as clubs aim to consolidate their position in the top four, but the Rentruck Aces’ recent run of form has shaken the foundations of the table.

Two away wins against Somerset and Swindon, plus their home triumph over Leicester last week, has caused major upset in the higher orders while throwing a lifeline to their play-off ambitions.

And with a renewed sense of confidence both in Manchester and on the road, the Aces their Premiership rivals in their sights.

But they go into both legs without club stalwart Dan Bewley after he crashed heavily at Workington, while the Parrys International Wolves sweat on the fitness of Nathan Greaves.

Team boss Mark Lemon said: “There’s no point peaking too early. You’ve got to be peaking at the right time and I think we’re starting to see this team coming good right when we need them to.

“We’ve got to keep the momentum going. The feeling in the pits lately has been calm and relaxed. That has really brought out the best in the team and has been reflected in our recent results.”

Tickets for Belle Vue’s next three home meetings are available online at www.bellevueaces.co and at the stadium box office on race nights.
