AUTUMN is most definitely creeping in, despite promises of an Indian summer, but it’s way too early to be feeling festive.

If you need something to look forward to in the meantime, how does an insanely cheap dinner sound? Or a free cocktail? What about both?

We’ve rounded up some of the best deals and offers from bars and restaurants across Manchester to make the most of this September.

For all the latest restaurant and bar news, reviews and dining deals, join our two Facebook groups – Going out in Manchester and Eating out in Manchester – like our Facebook page and follow us on Twitter: @CityLifeManc. Cosy Club at the Corn Exchange have a very respectable happy hour – any two cocktails for £9.95 between 4pm and 8pm Sunday to Thursday.

That offer extends to every cocktail on the menu except pitchers, so there are lime curd caipirinhas, spiced pineapple old fashioneds, prosecco cocktails, sangria, punch, and boozy iced teas.

Other offers include three tapas dishes with a glass of wine for £13.95 on Tuesdays, and a free drink with any main meal after 5pm Mondays. On Wednesdays, New-York inspired bar The Pen and Pencil has an evening of live music – and a great food and drink deal to go with it.

You can get any two mains with a bottle of house wine for just £30.

They do half-price food on Mondays when you book in advance, and the last Saturday of every month means Bottomless Brunch – unlimited food and drink between 10am and 1pm for £40 per person.

On Thursdays, it’s £10 for a burger or sandwich with a drink, and happy hour is Monday to Friday from 5pm. The revamped Bay Horse Tavern is a mighty fine pub indeed, with doorstep-thick sandwiches and a frankly massive crisp selection (yep, Space Raiders AND Transformers).

They now run a bottomless brunch deal on Saturdays and Sundays at just £27.50 a head. That gets you one item of the brunch menu and bottomless selected drinks.

If you fancy popping in for lunch on a weekday, you’ll be able to grab a pie and a pint for just £8.50 between noon and 5pm. Masons lunch menu is unbelievable value – and with their location inside Manchester Hall, it’s an impressive location for a lunch break.

The British restaurant, which focuses on taking a relaxed approach to formal fine dining, now offers a main dish and a drink for just £9.50.

The deal is available Tuesday to Friday from noon to 5pm, and dishes include steak sandwich with fries, seven bean salad, and kedgeree risotto, washed down with a glass of wine, pint of Estrella or a soft drink. The steakhouse and gin bar in the Corn Exchange always pulls a good deal out of the bag, and this month’s is no different.

In their hidden speakeasy bar 1837, they’ll be running a happy hour – two for £10 on selected cocktails and bottles of Peroni for £3.50.

The offer’s on Monday to Friday from 5pm to 7pm, noon to 6pm on Saturdays, and all day Sunday. Cane & Gran continue to serve their enormous £6 lunch menu this month, between noon and 4pm every weekday. That’ll get you a main such as a bacon cheeseburger, a Mexican bean burger, or half a rack of baby back ribs, all served with seasoned fries or a side salad.

Alternatively, you can dive in on a salad of the day with a soft sub roll.

The week ties up with 666 Sundays – that’s 18 wing for £6.66 all day every day on Sundays. You’ll get six buffalo wings, six Kansas wings, and six hot wings. In September, diners will be able to knock 50 per cent off their bill on Thursdays at Store Street Exchange, as long as you book online first.

They’re also continuing their lunch menu, which gets you two courses for £15 and is available Monday to Friday, noon to 6pm.

A two-course Sunday lunch with glass of prosecco is also £15 when booked in advance, and from September 27 there’ll be a 20pc discount for Manchester Food and Drink Festival.
