I’ve only got days to live, says BBC star

-

A BBC presenter who created a chart-topping podcast about having terminal cancer has revealed she has just days to live.

Rachael Bland, 40, was told her breast cancer was incurable in May this year and had been participating in clinical trials at the Christie Hospital in Manchester.

The mum-of-one, who co-hosts the podcast You, Me and the Big C, was diagnosed with the disease in November 2016.

Her blog, ‘Big C. Little Me,’ told of how she required more surgery after discovering her cancer had spread to her lymph nodes earlier this year.

And in an emotional tweet yesterday afternoon, she said: “In the words of the legendary Frank S - I’m afraid the time has come my friends. And suddenly. I’m told I’ve only got days. It’s very surreal. Thank you so much for all the support I’ve received. Debs and lozz will continue with the #youmebigc podcast. Au revoir my friends.”

The former BBC Radio 5 live presenter lives in Cheshire with her husband Steve and two-year-old son, Freddie.

Fellow BBC presenter Steph McGovern tweeted: “Rachael, I am so gutted for you and your family. The podcast has clearly helped so many people and you did it with such style, humour and bloody brilliance. Thank you for everything you have done.”

A JustGiving page set up to raise funds for Rachael’s family has already raised more than £4,000.
