A MAN has pleaded not guilty to the murder of talented rap artist Noel White.

Mr White, 28, who had a young son, was found collapsed outside his home on Heysham Avenue in Withington in June.

Paramedics battled to save his life, but he died later in hospital.

Mr White’s death sparked a flurry of tributes from friends, who described him as a ‘beautiful man inside and out’ who had a ‘heart of gold.’

Hedley Plummer, 37, of no fixed address, appeared at Manchester Crown Court yesterday. He pleaded not guilty to a single count of murder.

The brief hearing was in front of Judge David Stockdale QC, the Recorder of Manchester.

Mr Plummer spoke only to confirm his identity and enter the plea. He was remanded in custody.

Judge Stockdale QC said a trial date had been fixed for December 3.

He told the defendant: “You have now pleaded not guilty. This very serious matter now goes back for trial. You will remain remanded in custody.”

Mr White was a talented rapper and had recorded a number of songs with other musicians. He performed in Manchester and recorded under the name ‘Whites.’

Tributes flooded in on social media after his death.

Close friend Anthony Wells said: “Noel had a heart of gold.

“He was a really good lad, he will be sorely missed.”
