ROXANNE: I’M MOST HATED GIRL IN BRITAIN

ROXANNE Pallett says she will own the title of ‘the most hated woman in Britain’ after accusing former Coronation Street star Ryan Thomas of punching her on Celebrity Big Brother.

In a tough-talking interview with CBB host Emma Willis about her false allegations that he had assaulted her, she issued a grovelling apology to the Manchester actor and his family.

The former Emmerdale actress said she’s now feeling ‘scared’ about the future and was ‘devastated’ to hear other people she has worked with in the past had come forward to say they’d been through similar incidents with her.

“No one wants to hear that from anyone let alone people you’ve worked with,” she told Emma.

“I’m the most hated girl in Britain right now. It’s a lot to deal with.”

Asked by Emma if she felt that she deserved that title, she replied: “It’s the title I feel everyone’s giving me at the moment and all I can do is own it, accept it, apologise and try and take each day now bearing all of those things that I’m realising.

“That’s why I’m here. I saw a situation that’s innocent and misjudged and that was because of me, because of my sensitivity, fragility, whatever you want to call it. I’m all of those things. I used to think they were character traits but they’re character flaws that I need to go away and sort out.” The actress, best known for playing Jo Sugden in Corrie’s sister soap Emmerdale, asked to leave CBB days after accusing Ryan of punching her when he appeared to be playfully sparring with her in the kitchen in scenes aired on Thursday night’s episode.

Viewers praised presenter Emma on the tough grilling in which she asked Roxanne ‘how could you get something so wrong in your head?,’ before asking to be called to the Diary Room and then accusing the former Jason Grimshaw actor of punching her, convinced he had meant to hurt her while playfully sparring in the kitchen.

“I’m more shocked at myself than anyone out there,” explained Roxanne.

“I need to go away and think about why I used humour when something actually bothered me in my mind.

“I convinced myself he’d done it with malice and it wasn’t and I know it wasn’t now.”

Asked if she believed her own story she admitted that she did.

“The fact I used terminology like ‘woman beater and the fact I used words like ‘assault’ and ‘abuse’ – I can’t apologise enough,” she said.

And asked what she had to say to father-of-one Ryan, 34, and his family, she said: “I can’t apologise enough for trying to label somebody something they’re clearly not. All I can do is apologise and say I got it so wrong.”

The 35-year-old earlier issued a grovelling apology to Ryan and ‘every single person I’ve offended and disappointed’ on Jeremy Vine’s new Channel Five talk show.

Roxanne opened up about how suffering domestic violence in the past had left her ‘over-sensitive’ but admitted her reaction to Ryan’s playfighting had ‘gone too far.’
