A WOMAN has described how a man exposed himself and performed a sex act while sat next to her on the bus on her morning commute.

The lewd act took place on the 192 bus as it travelled between Longsight and Levenshulme at around 7.30am on Tuesday.

The 25-year-old woman, who has been kept anonymous for legal reasons, described the incident to the M.E.N. as she wants to encourage other victims to report them to police.

She said she got on the Stagecoach bus and sat next to a man, then started looking at her mobile phone.

The man brushed her leg with his leg and when she looked up she was horrified to find the man had exposed himself. He then performed a sexual act. The woman stood up and started shouting to let the other passengers on the bus know what was happening.

Two men, who were also travelling on the bus, hauled the offender off the bus.

The woman reported the incident to police later that morning and an investigation has been launched.

She said: “It is disgusting and I know a lot of women keep it quiet.

“I was just in shock, I thought this is not happening.

“I stood up on the bus and started shouting to all of the people.

“Two guys on the bus stood up and pushed him off the bus.

“He looked like someone just going to work, he didn’t say anything at all.

“He had no shame, it was unbelievable.”

The man has been described as Asian and is believed to be aged in his 40s.

No arrests have been made and police say they will be reviewing CCTV footage from the bus.

A spokeswoman for Greater Manchester Police said: “The victim was on the 192 bus going from Manchester to Stockport.

“An offender started committing a lewd act. She has challenged him and then two unknown male passengers got this man off the bus.

“The offender is described as an Asian man in his 40s. Police officers are speaking with the victim.”

Any witnesses or anyone with further information can call GMP on 101 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, quoting log number 698/September 4.
