Sane walks out of German squad

- By SIMON BAJKOWSKI

LEROY Sane has left the Germany team hotel for private reasons following discussions with head coach Joachim Low.

The City forward, controversially left out of the World Cup squad in the summer, was recalled for the international fixtures and came off the bench for the final stages of their 0-0 draw with France on Thursday night.

However, Germany announced yesterday afternoon that Sane will not be available for the Peru match tomorrow.

The furore around Sane has been one of a number of issues that continue to dominate talk around the Germany camp.

If his exclusion from the squad that went to Russia sparked an inquest in some circles, there was also concern that Low had only recalled the 22-year-old - who is currently out of favour with City boss Pep Guardiola because he is a poster boy for a section of young people in Germany.

Toni Kroos was brutal in his verdict of the player when asked in a press conference ahead of the France game.

“You sometimes get the feeling that it doesn’t matter to him if we win or lose,” he said, before adding: “It’s about showing his qualities.

“Then he can be an absolute weapon for us.

“He has got everything to become a world-class player, but sometimes, he needs to be told what to do.

“If he brings all his quality to the pitch, he can help us a lot.”
