No such cost elsewhere

-

REGARDING the article related to airport drop-off charge, I totally agree with the judge’s reasoning behind the incident that occurred last July.

I personally find the charges for picking up and dropping off passengers disgusting. What a complete rip-off.

I am sure Manchester Airport wants and enjoys growth in traffic volume – if so then they should invest in better infrastructure to cater for growth and not pretend the charges are introduced to remove congestion.

This is just another way to increase revenue.

Not being able to drop and collect passengers free of charge is regressive – not progressive. After all, we are spending money to use the airports, aren’t we?

If Manchester Airport wants to really reach out to the world, it must start to behave like it is a truly International airport and not like a provincial hub for low-cost airlines, where every surcharge and every penny counts. What next? The usage for lifts and escalators?

Heathrow does not apply these charges, the same with other major European airports and I have been in dozens of them lately.

The airport is spending billions to extend Terminal 2.

Does this mean that they are ensuring the new infrastructure will be able to cater for extra car traffic volume, and if so will they then remove the collect and drop-off charges once the project is complete?

Or will they still complain that there is too much congestion, and continue to charge people to collect and drop off?

They should be ashamed to treat CUSTOMERS this way. ML, via email
