A brace for Green helps United to sting Bees five times

-

MANCHESTER United continued their fine run of form in the FA Women’s Championship as they thrashed London Bees 5-0 at the Hive.

Two goals from Mollie Green and strikes from Lauren James, Millie Turner and Ella Toone saw United make it three wins out of three in the league - and with performances like this it’s hard to see how anybody will be able to stop them this season.

United started on the front foot and it was no surprise to see the lively Green open the scoring in the 19th minute, converting a low cross from close range to give the Red Devils the lead.

Ten minutes later, James scored a brilliant solo effort, turning inside her defender and striking hard and low into the bottom left hand corner following a slaloming run.

United were running riot and just before the break a scrambled effort from Turner put them 3-0 up and ended all hopes of a Bees comeback.

Although the visitors improved after half-time they were still no match for United and Green got her second ten minutes after the break, slotting the ball past Quantrill.

Substitute Toone made it five on 80 minutes with a precise low shot into the corner.

Bees forward Lauren Pickett was unlucky to see her speculative long-range effort crash off the bar in the closing stages as United kept yet another clean sheet and took three points back to Manchester.
