Fell refuses to draw on tiredness for result

- By RICHARD FAY

MAROUANE Fellaini believes United lacked energy as they were held to a disappointing 1-1 draw with Wolves in the Premier League.

The Belgian international played the entire 90 minutes for Jose Mourinho’s side as they dropped points against newly-promoted opposition for the third consecutive game.

Fred opened his United goal scoring account to give United the lead in the first-half, but Joao Moutinho cancelled out the lead with a secondhalf strike. United pushed forward for a late winner but were unable to find a second goal, and speaking after the game Fellaini revealed his frustrations at not being able to capitalise on their dominance in possession.

“We are very disappointed today, but we have to do better,” he told MUTV.

“I think we have to press more and we have to be more energetic, and we have to run forward. We didn’t today and when we have the chance we have to score, and we didn’t today.”

United looked lethargic as they were unable to breakdown a resolute Wolves defence in the second-half.

When asked if the midweek trip to face Young Boys in the Champions League was to blame for the lacklustre display, Fellaini refused to use fatigue as an excuse.

He added: “A bit, but it is not the reason. I think a lot of team played twice a week and we have to be ready, we have to be energetic and want to win the games.

“They are a good team, we know they play football, they are dangerous, they are energetic. But we are very disappointed today.”
