Reds stars play in Miller memorial

-

UNITED have named a starstudded side for the Liam Miller memorial match against Republic of Ireland and Celtic legends.

Reds legends will today (3pm) take part in a charity game in memory of their former Old Trafford team-mate Miller, who passed away earlier this year after a long battle with cancer.

Roy Keane will manage and captain the United side as they face a legends side representing Republic of Ireland and Celtic.

Paul Scholes, Ryan Giggs, Rio Ferdinand, Gary Neville, Andy Cole and Nicky Butt are among the other United greats who will put on the red shirt in honour of their close friend.

As well as featuring for United during his playing career, Miller also represented Celtic and Ireland.

In honour of this, an Irish and Celtic legends side managed by Martin O’Neill and compromising of the likes of Robbie Keane, Damien Duff, Richard Dunne, Stylian Petrov and John Hartson will face United at Cork’s Turners Cross stadium.

Miller was just 36 when he lost his fight with pancreatic cancer in February.

The former United midfielder is survived by his wife Clare and his three children Kory, Leo and Belle, and the game will raise funds for both Miller’s family and the Marymount Hospice.

The match will be available free to watch on MUTV, with coverage starting at 2.30pm today.
