A WORLD-FAMOUS orchestra and composer have been confirmed for Blue Planet II - Live in Concert when it heads to Manchester on its arena tour next year.

The City of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra will team up with conductor Matthew Freeman to provide the live soundtrack to the BBC’s BAFTA award-winning series.

The nature documentary was narrated by Sir David Attenborough and captured the natural wonders of planet Earth particularly beneath our oceans in breathtaking detail.

That stunning footage will be projected onto a giant, state-ofthe-art screen at the Manchester Arena next March, as part of a 13 date tour of the UK and Ireland.

A live soundtrack will accompany the screening and if the TV show gave you goosebumps the first time round, this is sure to be on another level.

During the filming, BBC film crews embarked on 125 expeditions across 39 countries, spending more than 6000 hours deep beneath the waves.

The original music score was composed by Hans Zimmer, Jacob Shea and David Fleming.

Hans Zimmer, who also composed the soundtracks of Inception, Gladiator and The Lion King, says of composing the music for Blue Planet II: “The idea is to depict the abundance of life as well as the movements and vibrations of the ocean.”

Matthew Freeman will conduct the orchestra through the performance, and he’s no stranger to Attenborough’s documentaries, having already toured Planet Earth Live in 2015, Frozen Planet in Concert in 2016, and Planet Earth II Live in 2018.

Freeman has also conducted more than 50 albums with the BBC Concert Orchestra, and has been personal music director for Dame Shirley Bassey, Michael Crawford, Frankie Vaughan and Mary O’Hara.

The City of Prague Philharmonic has provided music for Charlie Brooker’s hit series Black Mirror, as well as the 2001 film Mulholland Drive.

Blue Planet II - Live In Concert will play at Manchester Arena on March 27, 2019, the penultimate date in the 13-city tour.

Tickets are available through Eventim and Seetickets and cost between £46 and £68.95.
