Ginn heroics secure win for Storm

-

GOALTENDER Matt Ginn, who joined the club in the off season, gave Manchester Storm a big lift with an incredible performance at Dundee.

After a tight game that went to sudden death, Ryan Finnerty’s men claimed their first league win of the season as Luke Moffatt beat the Dundee Stars goaltender low to his left.

“We needed a league win, no matter how it came, and we got it through great goaltending and an all-round team performance,” said Finnerty.

“I want my players to enjoy the feeling after they ground out a win against a very good Dundee side.”

The victory came after heartbreak on Saturday evening when Storm went down 2-1 to Sheffield Steelers at the Storm Shelter in Altrincham.

The game was a very tight affair with no goals in the first two quarters of the game.

Steelers’ new signing Brendan Brooks scored the winning goal with 15 seconds to go.

Moffatt scored the Storm goal after good work by skipper Dane Byers and Evan Richardson.

Storm’s next game in the Challenge Cup is on Wednesday, October 3 when they face big-spending Nottingham Panthers at the Storm Shelter at 7pm.

This weekend Storm entertain Milton Keynes Lightning on Saturday evening in a League and Conference Game.

On Sunday it’s back on the bus for a trip to play Fife Flyers in Scotland.
