Belle Vue lap up chance to keep fresh before big clash

- SPEEDWAY By HAYLEY BROMLEY

BELLE Vue will take advantage of the chance to put in some extra laps ahead of their trip to King’s Lynn on Monday when they face Swindon tonight.

And it’s a big day for Cool Running Colts stalwart Kyle Bickley, who makes his first appearance in the club’s Premiership side, deputising for Mark Riss after he called time on his season earlier this month.

The first attempt at this fixture saw the Rentruck Aces dominating the Robins 25-11 after Heat 6 until inclement weather and deteriorating conditions put paid to any hope of declaring a result.

The postponement was of little consequence to Belle Vue, who were already secure in the top four, and the re-staging falling during their play-off campaign is an opportunity they cannot waste.

It could work to their advantage, says club No.3 Steve Worrall, as it affords his team extra time on the bike over their fellow Premiership titlecontenders to keep themselves fresh and alert.

He said: “Things ultimately didn’t go to plan on Monday in the first leg with King’s Lynn, so we need to take every chance we have to test a few things before we go to the Adrian Flux Arena next week.

“It’s not ideal having this fixture fall right in the middle of our play-off semi-final but that doesn’t mean we’re not going to give 100 percent.

“We never aim for anything less than a win.”
