Thomas Cook sent its first flight from Manchester to Marrakesh this weekend.

The first flight took off on Sunday, after the holiday firm added the popular destination to its line up for this winter. The new twice-weekly flights will depart every Wednesday and Sunday.

Marrakesh is famous for its expansive markets, bustling city life and snowcapped Atlas mountains. Holidaymakers can choose from six hotels across Marrakesh, including the Thomas Cook own-brand SENTIDO Kenzi Menara Palace.

Christoph Debus, CEO of Thomas Cook Airlines, said: “We are always very pleased to launch new routes from Manchester, and with flights available twice a week throughout the winter and summer there’s never been a better time to jet off to Morocco. Our overall capacity for Manchester is now over 3m which is fantastic for local holidaymakers looking for a winter break this year.”

Julian Carr, aviation director for Manchester Airport, said: “Marrakesh is hugely popular with our 27.9m passengers. It’s a great year-round destination with lots to offer for every type of traveller. These new flights with Thomas Cook Airlines will provide our passengers with even greater choice of how they get to Morocco.”

Thomas Cook Airlines offers flights from Manchester to Marrakesh from £47.99 per person, one way, during winter 2018/19.

Thomas Cook offers seven nights in Marrakesh from £679 per person, based on two adults sharing, staying at the four star SENTIDO Kenzi Menara Palace on an all inclusive basis, flying from Manchester on October 31. See thomascookairlines.com or thomascook.com
