Man fighting for life after road smash

A YOUNG man is fighting for his life in hospital after a car crash.

Police were called to the collision on Dialstone Lane in Offerton, Stockport, at around 11.25pm on Saturday.

The driver was critically injured after the Blue Nissan 300ZX he was driving went into three parked cars, police said.

The driver – a man in his twenties – was taken to hospital where his condition was said to be life threatenin­g.

Officers from GMP’s Serious Collision Investigat­ion Unit are appealing for witnesses.

Sergeant Lee Westhead, from GMP’s SCIU, said: “This was a very serious collision that has resulted in the driver fighting for his life in hospital.

“We are currently trying to establish how the collision happened. I would urge anyone who saw the collision, or who may have seen the vehicle in the Stockport area around the time of the collision, to get in touch with us immediatel­y.

“The vehicle involved was a distinctiv­e blue coloured Nissan 300ZX and was likely being driven in the Stockport area for at least 15 minutes prior to the collision.

“The driver’s family are currently with him at hospital. Our thoughts remain with them at this awful time.”
