Bad parking that drives you mad...

READERS SEND IN PICTURES OF CARS AND VANS WHERE THEY REALLY SHOULDN’T BE

M.E.N. readers have been revved up by the subject of shocking parking after we published this image of a Range Rover taking up FOUR spaces at the Trafford Centre.

You have sent us lots of pictures of badly parked vehicles and had your say on our Facebook page.

They include the driver who decided to not only block most of the pavement – but someone’s driveway.

To add insult to injury, according to Timperley resident Steve Maule – whose drive was completely blocked – there was plenty of other free space available on the rest of the street.

Not even disabled parking spaces are off limits for some drivers.

Claire Louise Greenhalgh spotted this car parked diagonally across two of them when she visited Asda.

In fact, supermarkets seemed to be something of a magnet for inconsiderate parking.

Charlotte Coles sent us a photo of another Range Rover taking up two spaces outside Aldi in Hazel Grove, Stockport. Other drivers, meanwhile, seemed to give up entirely on the concept of finding a marked out space, and just left their cars wherever they spotted a gap.

Mehmoud Ali sent us a photo of a BMW parked up on a footpath at the Trafford Centre.

We’re not even sure what the driver of a white van in Rochdale, in this photo sent to us by Neil Tustin, was trying to accomplish, seemingly blocked in by another van and a load of blue bins. The Trafford Centre Range Rover – one of many pictures originally shared on the Facebook group Bad Parking Greater Manchester – sparked a flurry of angry comments on the M.E.N. Facebook page. Paul Taylor summed up many people’s feelings with his comment: “Typical Range Rover driver. Let’s not forget we are the peasants and must move to one side when they approach in the rear view. Just wait till I get my Ferrari. Then I’ll stuff them all.”

But some readers defended the straddling of spaces, saying they are often too small for modern cars.

Harrold Plumbs wrote: “Unfortunately got to defend this. I am lucky and worked hard and gone from driving a 300 pound banger to having nice cars.

“I park as far away from the entrance to my destination as I can and somewhere with few cars and sometimes I might take up to spaces to help protect my car.”

Myles Cartwright said: “To be honest if I had a beautiful motor like that Range Rover I would probably do the same, the spaces are not big enough and there are often careless people who bash their door into your car.”
