Donkey-case not justice

-

WITH reference to the story about the 29 abused donkeys of which two were put down.

Their owners, the perpetrators of the abuse, receive merely suspended sentences and are banned from keeping animals for just three years – so no real punishment there then, even though two hard-working and defenceless animals are dead.

A man shows concern when he discovers his dog is left alone while the person who was supposed to be looking after it goes on holiday.

Having met her at the airport, which proves she’d been on holiday (even though she said she was in Salford, but in any event had still left the dog unattended), he spat in her face (which is a disgraceful thing to do), and challenged her about the dog being left.

The dog wasn’t abused or injured but its owner was quite rightly upset at it being left.

The difference in these two cases is immense. It seems the wrong judge presided over the wrong case.

Amazingly, the judge on the donkey case considered a suspended sentence appropriate (which is most certainly wasn’t when two had to be put down), and the judge on the dog case jailed the dog’s owner for showing concern, probably because of the spitting incident.

Are the judges making it up as they go along?

How about a re-trial of the donkey case with appropriate and deserved severe punishment being given to the donkeys’ owners – in the form of a long prison sentence for cruelty?

Perhaps a petition might be what’s needed to get the justice the donkeys deserve.
