Find out which Manchester properties you can own for less than the price of a night out on the town

- By Dan Gledhill and Chris Osuh

WHAT can you get for £55 a week? How about a place of your own? Yes, MEN property has found homes across Greater Manchester that will cost you less than the price of a good night out.

With a price limit of £50,000 we found a 95 per cent mortgage where payments would be as little as £219.00 a month fixed for three years on a deposit of £2,500.

The properties generally fall into band B for Council Tax with Rochdale the cheapest local authority in the region at £1,074 and Stockport the most expensive at £1,431.

So if you are prepared to sacrifice your night out for a night in you can get a place of your own.

CHORLEY NEW ROAD

How about a ground floor one bedroom flat on the main road into Bolton? The property is close to posh Bolton School and right opposite Queens Park so lots of green space on your doorstep.

LAVENHAM CLOSE

A great one bedroom flat in Bury on the first floor of a building set back from the road and surrounded by gardens and trees. The separate kitchen may need some work but the property comes with a garage although its also handy for public transport.

SHAW HEATH

You are going to have to use your imagination here – and have funds to finish a project. This basement space under the former Blue Bell pub in Stockport has permission to become a two-bedroom apartment. The rest of the building is already converted to six apartments.

NEWTOWN

Right next to Robin Retail Park and within easy reach of Wigan town centre, this first floor one bed has a vast living room, separate modern kitchen and its own private entrance.

WHITWORTH

A one bed flat in a purpose built block in Whitworth. Looks a bit gloomy on the photos but at £35,000 you have plenty left over for a full makeover.

DUKINFIELD

The cutest first home in Tameside for under £50,000. Brand new with contemporary kitchen and metro tiling in the bathroom. Its heading for auction so you’ll need to have your finances in place.

STOCKPORT ROAD

The pick of the bunch. A top floor apartment in a character building in Hyde that even boasts its own balcony. Decent sized kitchen, bright bathroom and gas central heating. Outside there are communal gardens and allocated parking.

BLACKLEY

Two double bedrooms, bright kitchen and allocated parking for £50,000? There must be a catch? Well there is, the building has a structural defect (more details from the agent) so a mortgage may be tricky.

NEVILLE COURT

This second floor one bedroom apartment in a purpose built block in Salford has fitted wardrobes and a great living room bay window. The £24,000 price represents 50 per cent shared ownership but there is the potential to purchase the other 50 per cent.
