KNIFE-WIELDING robbers attacked a pensioner after bursting into his home – then admitted ‘we have the wrong address.’

The two masked thieves burst through the front door as the 65-yearold victim was relaxing at his home in Littleborough, Rochdale, just before midnight, demanding cash and car keys.

When the pensioner said he had neither, one of the robbers punched him in the face.

As they fled, one of the thieves said ‘we have the wrong address,’ according to police.

Now detectives from Greater Manchester Police have launched an investigation into the incident at a house on Whitelees Road in Littleborough.

The robbers, both said to be brandishing knives, broke down the front door of the home at 11.20pm on Saturday, September 22, and fled the pensioner’s home in the direction of Harehill Road.

Before they left the house, the men snatched a ‘Makita’ branded angle grinder. One of the robbers is said to be white, 6ft, of medium build and was dressed all in black.

He was wearing a white face mask and holding a wooden-handled kitchen knife.

The second man is also white, of medium build and also wore all black clothing and a white face mask.

Both spoke with local accents, according to police.

Detective Constable David Thornton, of GMP’s Rochdale division, said: “This man was simply relaxing at home when two unknown offender burst through his front door.

“We believe that the offenders were targeting someone else and mistakenly broke into his address.

“Not content with simply leaving – they assaulted the man and stole from him.

“We’re appealing to anyone with information to contact us immediately so we can get these violent individuals off our streets.”
