Thug in love-tug fight - for fat fryer

MAN BOMBARDS EX WITH ABUSIVE TEXTS BEFORE SNATCHING £30 FRYER AND EMPTYING FAT ON SOFA

- By AMY WALKER and SAM YARWOOD

A SPURNED boyfriend who subjected his ex to a revenge hate campaign during a tug-of-love battle for their deep fat fryer has walked free from court.

Aidan Jones, 26, bombarded his former partner with abusive text messages, demanding he get their shared kitchen appliance – and their window blinds.

The father-of-one claimed he had paid for the fryer and branded his ex a ‘gold digger,’ mocking the fact that she lived in Wythenshawe.

He also said she should start paying their £38 a month Sky subscription bill.

Texts read: “You’re a h**, a typical Wythenshawe h**. You will see, you only **** guys to get their money. You’re a proper tramp.”

Jones added: “Hide your car. You’re not going to see it in the morning. Best hope your new boyfriend isn’t there or I’ll put you both out. You selfish, gold digging s***.’’

Police were called in July last year after Jones sneaked into the victim’s home while she was talking outside with friends and unplugged the £30 fryer before emptying chip fat inside it over her velvet sofa and carpet causing £2,080-worth of damage.

He also removed the blinds from the property and walked out of the house with the items piled high in his arms before sending a further text.

It read: “I’m not done yet – I’ll come back with more men.”

Jones, from Burnage, was sentenced to 12 weeks in jail, suspended for two years at Manchester magistrates court.

He was also ordered to complete a two-year community order. Jones must attend rehabilitation sessions.

Jones admitted criminal damage and was found guilty of harassment without violence after a trial earlier this month.

He was cleared of assaulting his ex-partner and damaging her Fiat Punto car. Jones told the hearing: ‘’The report says I was irate by her not giving me my belongings but it doesn’t say about the abusive messages she sent to me.

‘’I was asking her for weeks for my clothes.

“I don’t go out anymore. I have been in the news and it has stopped me going out.

“People stop me and ask if it’s me in the news. I have had heart problems and I cannot work.”

District Judge Khalid Qureshi told him: “You don’t seem to be taking responsibility for this.

“I have read the texts and they show appalling behaviour from you.

“What people don’t understand sometimes is that when you push the send button on a text, that’s it, it’s too late.’’

The court heard the couple got together shortly after Christmas 2016 but broke up the following June after a series of rows when she suspected he was seeing other girls.

The victim fought back tears as she addressed the court during the hearing.

In a victim personal statement, she added: “Nobody has a right to be calling me these offensive names when I have done nothing wrong.

“In terms of damage, this is going to be a huge cost for me.

“The damage to the sofa will cost me more than £2,000. I want to move address because of all this, I don’t want to be there anymore.”
