KEVIN de Bruyne is back in the City squad for today’s visit of Burnley.

But manager Pep Guardiola said he is not sure whether the Belgium ace will start the Premier League clash, after two months out with a lateral collateral ligament injury.

De Bruyne injured himself in training just days after starting the season in the 2-0 win at Arsenal and has not played since.

He initially targeted the Manchester derby on November 11, but returned to training three weeks ago and was touted as a possible for the trip to play Liverpool on October 7.

That did not happen, but De Bruyne is now fit.

Said Guardiola: “I don’t know if he is able to play for 90 minutes but he has trained really well for the last two weeks and has no pain, so he is ready to be part of the group again.”

De Bruyne’s return is a huge boost, especially as they have made light of his absence by claiming top spot in the league, albeit on goal difference from Chelsea and Liverpool.

“He is an important player for us,” said Guardiola. “Every player that is out and comes back makes us stronger.

“There is no doubt how important he is for us.”

But Germany international Ilkay Gundogan is out injured, with Guardiola indicating he will be out for between one and three weeks.

Fabian Delph is back in training and available for selection, however.
