Ram raiders rip out cashpoint from shop
THIS was the scene of destruction left behind after a shop was ram-raided.
These dramatic images show the aftermath of the incident, which happened at the Co-operative food store on Vernon Road in Greenmount, Bury.
The building’s shutters were ripped off and a green ‘cash zone’ cash machine was on the opposite side of the road in pieces having been dragged from inside.
Smashed pumpkins, glass and other debris – including a shop door – lay scattered across the pavement outside, cordoned off by blue and white police tape.
Officers were called to the scene just after 3am yesterday.
It is understood they are searching for a group of men in a flat back truck, although no descriptions of the suspects have yet been released.
GMP have not been able to confirm if cash was stolen from inside the cashpoint.
An investigation has been launched and the force is appealing to anyone with information to come forward.
A spokesman for GMP said: “We were called just after 3am to reports that the Co-op shop on Vernon Road had been ram-raided.
“Officers attended and discovered the cash machine was in the road. It is understood it was removed by a group of men in a flat back truck.
“An investigation is underway.”
