A FOOTBALL fan has been jailed after he sexually assaulted a flight attendant on a plane home following the Champions League final.

Brian Keegan, 55, was sentenced to eight months in prison after he admitted sexual assaulting the woman and being drunk on an aircraft.

Manchester Crown Court heard that Keegan became abusive when he was refused alcohol on the flight from Denmark to Manchester Airport.

The Liverpool supporter was travelling back to the UK in May this year after watching the Champions League clash with Real Madrid in Kiev, Ukraine.

He was returning back to the UK via Copenhagen.

Prosecutors said that Keegan had already been drinking booze in the airport before boarding.

While on the flight with two friends, he asked for two vodka and Cokes.

But other passengers had complained about the defendant, and told staff that they thought he had already had enough to drink.

Keegan was said to be annoyed by this.

As a result, he was refused alcohol and told he wouldn’t be served.

Then Keegan became abusive towards other passengers, saying ‘they are nasty b ****** s.’ The court was told that Keegan said he would ‘kick their heads in once they got through the airport.’

Keegan then got up to go to the toilet.

As he did so, one of the female flight attendants was continuing to serve passengers food and drink.

When he passed her, Keegan pushed up against her several times with his groin, the court heard.

He later claimed the incident was not sexually motivated.

But in a victim impact statement read to the court by prosecutors, the woman said she felt it was deliberate.

She said that at the time Keegan was very intoxicated and was slurring his words.

As a result, she formed the view that he was drunk and decided not to serve him any more alcohol.

He then became argumentative, she said.

Staff on the aircraft informed the police of the incident and on arrival GMP officers boarded the plane and arrested Keegan.

Keegan, of Diamond Street, Liverpool, pleaded guilty to one count of being drunk on an aircraft and another count of sexual assault.

At court yesterday, Keegan was sentenced to eight months in prison.

He was also ordered to sign the sex offenders register for 10 years following his conviction.
