Weather to turn colder with frosty end to Octo-brrr!

-

THERE could be some snowfall in hilly areas this coming weekend with temperatures set to plunge accompanied by wintry conditions.

Frost, icy patches and blustery winds are going to become more of a regular sight from Friday onwards according to forecasters.

The weather will be a stark contrast to the moderate conditions of last weekend, with temperatures reaching highs of between 12C to 14C.

But from Friday, chilly air is moving into the region and temperatures will struggle to reach above 10C.

Before the wintry weather moves in, it will be a mostly grey and cloudy week across Greater Manchester.

From today to Thursday forecasters have said to expect grey and cloudy conditions.

There could be some patchy rain or drizzle, as well as blustery winds.

The change in the weather is expected on Friday due to cold northerly winds moving in.

Temperatures are expected to reach highs of 9C, while on Saturday they are not forecast to reach much higher than 8C.

According to the Met Office website, there is the risk of snow on higher ground in some areas.

It is unlikely to settle at lower levels, with the north Pennines expected to be affected. The chilly temperatures will be accompanied by night frost and icy patches.

The Met Office said: “From Friday, a change to much colder weather accompanied by sunshine and showers is expected. By next weekend, cold northerly winds will probably bring snow to higher ground.”
