Hill hints Moore will keep place after great comeback
KEITH Hill is full of praise for Brendan Moore after the keeper made his longawaited return for Rochdale.
The American played his first game for more than a year in the League One win over Bradford on Saturday having recovered from rupturing his ankle ligaments during training.
The 26-year-old is hoping to continue his comeback at Wycombe tonight after his clean sheet on Saturday – which included an 89th-minute one-on-one stop against George Miller.
“That’s what goalkeepers do, they win matches,” said Hill. “Everyone thinks it’s the strikers, but it’s the goalkeepers who win matches.
“Brendan’s done tremendously well and he probably deserves to stay in the side after that performance.
“He knows now that I’ll trust him, but he’s got to back that up with performances.”
And Moore knows that he still has to work hard to keep his place in the side.
He said: “My goal going into the match was to perform well and keep a clean sheet. I was able to do that, so I’m very happy. I’ve got to keep working hard in training and take one day at time.
“We’ve got a good core group of goalkeepers at the moment, which is really good for us. We’re competitive with each other, so training is competitive, which can only be a good thing.”
Rochdale sit 16th in League One, just a point ahead of Wycombe.
