Latics ‘made life difficult’

-

FRANKIE Bunn says Oldham made life tough for themselves after they lost 2-1 to 10-man Northampton at Sixfields.

The Latics were already a goal down when Northampton’s Sam Foley was sent off for a challenge on Christopher Missilou just before half time.

And they fell further behind minutes later as Kevin van Veen fired home a penalty.

Although Robert Hunt pulled a goal back on 72 minutes, Latics were unable to find an equaliser.

“It’s a tough one to take but any loss is,” said Bunn (pictured) after his side slipped to 15th in League Two.

“I thought the lads gave everything. Northampton got a dubious penalty decision and I thought we should have had one, which the referee missed, and that’s the way it is at the minute. We need that bit of luck.

“We said we needed to come here and get on top of them and we did that, but then we’ve conceded from two set plays.

“Again, we’re in good possession in the opposition’s half, one ball down the side and we give a free-kick away and that’s it.

“We worked on it in the week with set plays and that was the only way they were going to score and they’ve got two. So in that respect we never dealt with the second ball on the first goal, and the penalty. We made life tough for ourselves and they defended well.”
