No plans for Evra United return
ED Woodward and Patrice Evra have just been ‘catching up’ at United games and there are no plans for the Frenchman to make a sensational return to Old Trafford.
Evra lives in London and has been spotted sitting alongside Woodward in the directors’ box for both of United’s recent fixtures in the capital – which has certainly got fans talking.
The pair watched the Reds’ 3-1 defeat to West Ham at the London Stadium and the 2-2 draw with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge just a few weeks later.
Evra walked with the United squad to the team bus after the Chelsea game and was seen shaking hands with Jose Mourinho and sharing a joke with close friend Paul Pogba.
The 37-year-old’s sudden return to the scene has fuelled talk on social media that he could end up back at Old Trafford in a non-playing capacity – even though the left-back has not officially retired.
United are preparing to appoint a technical director for the first time in the club’s history, but Evra is not being groomed for the role.
“It is just two friends catching up,” a source close to Evra told M.E.N. Sport.
Woodward was keen for Evra to stay at United in 2014, and even offered him a new two-year deal, but the left-back’s wife, Sandra, had her heart set on a move away.
Evra subsequently joined Juventus where the veteran won five trophies, including two Serie A titles, before spells at Marseille and West Ham.
