Special engagement for birthday boy rio

-

NEWLY-ENGAGED Kate Wright looked radiant as she headed out on the town with her fiance Rio Ferdinand to celebrate his 40th birthday.

The former The Only Way Is Essex star showed off her engagement ring as she walked hand-in-hand with her man.

Kate showed off her glowing tan from their recent romantic trip to Abu Dhabi in a deep red crop top and coordinating colourful layered skirt with strappy gold heels, her hair worn in beachy waves.

And she was all smiles as she stepped out with United legend Rio, who looked smart in a navy suit, striped T-shirt and white trainers.

It sounds like the loved-up pair had a great night because they didn’t leave the restaurant until the early hours.

The football pundit recently shared the happy news that the couple were engaged on Instagram, with a picture of him popping the question on a helipad, watched by his children Lorenz, 12, Tate, 10, and Tia, seven after letting them in on the secret.

A delighted Rio was flooded with congratulations after telling followers: “She said yes. How these 3 kids kept it a secret I’ll never know.”

Sharing the same photo Kate told her followers: “The perfect end to our holiday ... How could the answer not be yes.”

Romantic Rio chose a helipad at Abu Dhabi’s St Regis Hotel, with an incredible view over the Emirate, to propose to former reality star Kate.

Earlier this year Kate said in an interview on the chat show This Morning that she and Rio’s children hit it off so well they’ve been begging their dad on a daily basis to marry her.

Fans have been delighted to see Rio Ferdinand find happiness again after the tragedy of losing his wife Rebecca Ellison to cancer in May 2015.

The couple went public with their relationship last year and Kate gave up her showbiz life to spend more time with Rio and his family.

The pair met in Dubai and were introduced by mutual friends.

Kate recalled that gallant Rio asked his children’s permission before asking her out over a fry up in a cafe in Bromley - and his kids were there to witness the moment.

She said previously that he had said to her “I really like you, I like your dog. Will you be my girlfriend?”

She explained: “A really big part of the relationship is everything we’ve done, we’ve included them in everything, and let them know that I wasn’t taking their dad away from them.”

Kate says they have a special room at home dedicated to Rebecca and Rio’s mum Janice St Fort who passed away last year including photos of the women, and they all go to the cemetery together to remember them.
