Sian wraps up

CAR Share star Sian Gibson and Coronation Street favourites Shayne Ward and Faye Brookes were among the stars dazzling on the red carpet at the Royal Television Society North West Awards.

Sian, winner of best comedy performanc­e as loveable Kayleigh Kitson in Peter Kay’s Car Share, looked stunning in a shimmering colourful wrap dress, which she told us was a last-minute purchase from Warehouse on the day of the awards.

Car Share, which returned for a finale in May, won the prize for best comedy programme.

There was a Corrie reunion for Shayne and Faye, who played brother and sister Aidan and Kate Connor in the ITV1 soap, and Faye was stunned to see Clayton actor Shayne had said goodbye to the beard he’d been sporting recently.

Father-of-one Shayne, whose Corrie storyline about popular factory boss Aidan taking his own life was up for best storyline, told us he’s been busy moving house with partner Sophie Austin and daughter Willow – and he’s been filming his first silver screen film Stairs, in which he plays the leading role Will Stanton, the leader of a squad of mercenarie­s, in the psychologi­cal thriller.

On Aidan’s tragic storyline, which was praised for helping to raise awareness of male suicide, he said: “It was a massive team effort at Street and it’s great that it was received so well.”

Sue Cleaver, Corrie’s Eileen Grimshaw, looked chic in a black suit as she went head-to-head with co-star Jack P Shepherd who plays troubled David Platt in the soap.

Sue’s much-loved character went through a hellish time at the hands of her evil husband Pat Phelan, whose killing spree ended with him being killed by Anna Windass.

She said: “She’s been through the mill and thankfully Phelan is gone now. “It was a great storyline.” Jack, who attended the ceremony with his girlfriend Hanni Treweek, was also proud to see the
