harrowing and awareness-raising storyline of his character being raped win the best continuing drama storyline, and he won best performance in a continuing drama for the role.

Hollyoaks stars Ross Adams, nominated for best performance in a continuing drama for his role as Scott Drinkwell, Haiesha Mistry, Ruby O’Donnell, Nicole Barber Lane, Lysette Anthony, Alex Fletcher, Harvey Virdi, Richard Linnell and Parry Glasspool were all smiles posing on the carpet together as they arrived at the glittering TV awards held at the Hilton hotel on Deansgate.

Ruby, from Warrington, who has played teen mum Perri Lomax in the Channel Four soap for five years, has been thrilled by the fan reaction to Perri growing close again to her ex Tom Cunningham, played by Oldham actor Ellis Hollins.

She said: “I want them to be a couple. I think they are meant to be together.”

And she added: “There’s an exciting storyline for Perri so watch this space.”

Cold Feet star John Thomson hosted the awards while being up for best male performance in a single drama for his role as Pete Gifford in the Manchester-based comedy drama, which scooped best drama series.

John told us: “I was a bit nervous to be asked to host the awards because I’ve been before and it’s a bit rowdy – and I’m nominated for best male performance and best drama. It feels like our second chance with Cold Feet. It’s such a major success that’s paid off.”

He was joined at the awards by co-star and on-screen wife Fay Ripley and her daughter Parker. Fay was up for best female performance in a single drama for her role as Jenny.

Speaking to us on the red carpet Fay said she’s excited about the ITV show returning in the new year for a new series after a triumphant comeback in 2016 after 13 years away from our screens.

“Now everyone else is copying us – two words ‘Spice Girls.’ I’m so wanting to see their tour. I’m 100 per cent of that generation.”
