Robins reliant on Hulme to see off Chester

- NON-LEAGUE By SCOTT ANDERSON

ALTRINCHAM climbed to eighth in the National League North after striker Jordan Hulme scored both goals in a 2-1 win at Chester.

Hulme put the Robins into the lead after just 11 minutes before Simon Grand equalised for the home side.

And Hulme scored a second-half winner to seal the three points for Altrincham.

The win sees Phil Parkinson’s side climb the table to just one place and two points off the play-offs.

FC United continued their impressive run of form by storming to a 3-1 win at Hereford.

The Rebels were three goals to the good within 30 minutes, with Thomas Peers opening the scoring in the 24th minute and Harvey Smith converting into his own net following a Lewis Thompson cross just two minutes later.

Kurt Willoughby latched onto a poor back-pass to add a third for the away side, and James Roberts’ late strike proved to be a consolation for Hereford as FC United leapfrogged their opponents in the table and climb to 18th.

With just one win in their first 12 league games, FC United have gone on a five-game unbeaten run – winning three and drawing two.

Curzon Ashton drew 1-1 against Bradford Park Avenue at the Tameside Stadium, with Oliver Crankshaw scoring a second-half equaliser to secure a point against the National League North leaders.
