Platt clan’s boot-iful night out!
CORRIE FAMILY STARS AT MUSICAL
CORONATION Street’s David and Kylie Platt were reunited as actor Jack P Shepherd attended the press night for the musical Kinky Boots. Jack, who plays David, headed to Manchester’s Opera House to cheer on Paula Lane, who played his on-screen wife Kylie in the ITV1 soap.
Paula played Kylie for six years until she was tragically stabbed to death by Clayton Hibbs in July 2016 and Jack’s character David is now in a relationship with Clayton’s mum Shona Ramsey, who he had serious reservations about dating at first because of her link to his wife’s killer.
The pair were all smiles as they posed together for the cameras at the theatre on Quay Street, Paula looking fabulous in a black lacy top and white jacket and Jack in an animal print shirt and biker jacket. And Jack wasn’t the only Corrie star turning out to support Paula. His on-screen family were also there for her big night.
Tina O’Brien, who plays his sister Sarah, Ben Price who plays his brother Nick and Lucy Fallon, who plays niece Bethany also walked the red carpet.
Tina strutted the carpet in leopard print boots and Lucy wowed in a cute galactic patterned dress.
Corrie co-star Faye Brookes, whose character Kate Connor is exploring the idea of having a child with new fiancee Rana Nazir, turned heads in black velvet shorts and a smart jacket with gold buttons. And Jenny Bradley actress Sally Ann Matthews posed alongside the Kinky Boots Angels with Adam Blease whose character, Dirk, works as a knicker-stitcher in the Underworld factory.
With songs by Grammy and Tony winning pop icon Cyndi Lauper, Kinky Boots takes audiences from the factory floor to the glamorous catwalks of Milan. Paula is excited to be ‘stretching her legs’ by branching out into the musical theatre show about a pair of fabulous heels. She tweeted afterwards: “Well what can I say @KinkyBootsUK press night Manchester. I felt another level of love last night. Thank you to all my wonderful friends and hubby @SirTomShaw for supporting me. Truly meant the world.”
In the UK tour of the award-winning hit musical Paula is showcasing her singing and dancing skills as assembly line worker Lauren in the story of a shoemaker asked by performer Lola to make a pair of sturdy new stilettos.
Kinky Boots runs at the Opera House until Saturday, December 1.
