CORONATION Street star Kym Marsh has announced that she’s going to become a grandmother at 42.

Kym, who became a mother to eldest child David at 18 and Emilie at 21, has opened up about her daughter expecting a baby of her own.

Speaking in this week’s issue of OK! Magazine the Corrie actress says she’s looking forward to becoming a “young grandmother”.

She said: “I’ve always looked forward to having grandchildren. Although I’m not relishing being called grandma so I’ve been researching alternative names.”

Kym, who has played bistro manager and former Rovers Return barmaid Michelle Connor in the ITV1 soap for 12 years, feels emotional that her baby is having a baby of her own.

“I know what it’s like to be young and pregnant.” she says. “It’s scary, but Emilie will be a great mum.”

Kym, who also has a seven-year-old daughter Polly, sat with Emilie, who works as a beauty therapist at Manchester city centre salon House of Evelyn, when she took her pregnancy test. And Emilie was so overwhelmed she made Kym tell her dad Dave Cunliffe that she was pregnant. Emilie, 21, who auditioned for the singing show The Voice in 2015, has known her boyfriend of six months for years and he prefers to stay out of the limelight. She said: “He’s a lovely guy, really supportive and he’s really excited about the baby arriving. I’m really lucky to have him.” Read the full story in this week’s OK! Magazine, out now.
