Cinema with sofas and snacks for city

MANCHESTER city centre is about to get its first Everyman Cinema, with another recently opened in Altrincham.

The boutique cinemas feature comfy two-person sofas and wide single-person armchairs that you can cosy up on, with food and drinks delivered straight to your plush seat.

The city centre Everyman will open in autumn 2019 at Allied London’s ABC Buildings at Enterprise City. Housed inside the former Astley Byrom House, the development will be sensitive to the buildings’ original features and will retain the 1960s architecture and design. The 10,500 sq ft site will feature three screening rooms plus a bar and restaurant space.

Inside, the Spielburger restaurant will serve - you guessed it - burgers, as well as handmade pizzas, with the team able to deliver seat-side restaurant service.

Everyman will screen new release films as well as classics from the archives, and will live broadcast art events.

They are the second leisure tenant to join ABC after Barry’s Bootcamp secured a spot - the treadmillbased high intensity fitness centre is due to open on December 1.

Enterprise City itself will be a centre for media, tech and creative industries, the former home of Granada TV Studios which are now operated by All Studios, all part of the £1.25 billion St John’s Development.

Crispin Lilly, CEO of Everyman Cinemas said: “Opening a new Everyman venue in Manchester will be an important step for us. Manchester is a city steeped in entertainment history and we can’t wait to be a part of it.

“Our focus is really on experience, from an atmospheric bar with a quality food and drink menu (including a great wine list), to comfortable sofa seating and a great programme of films both big and small.

“We aim to make every guest’s visit special no matter what they choose to watch, and to make them fall back in love with a night at the cinema.”

If you want to get a taste for the luxurious Everyman experience before then, head over to Altrincham where the group opened another site earlier this month.

The Manchester city centre branch will open at Enterprise City, St John’s, in autumn 2019.
