Shopkeeper stabbed in terrifying masked raid
FOUR MEN ATTACK STORE WORKER WITH METAL BAR AND KNIFE IN ROBBERY
A SHOP worker was stabbed in the leg and assaulted with a metal bar during a terrifying robbery at an off-licence in south Manchester.
CCTV has been released of the four hooded men officers want to speak to – with one wearing a distinct skull mask.
The armed gang stormed into the One Stop shop, on Berigan Close, Longsight, wearing masks and gloves on Friday, November 16.
They then set upon the shopkeeper, repeatedly hitting him with a metal bar, before holding a knife to his throat.
The victim was then stabbed in the leg before they stole his mobile phone.
They then raided the shelves for cash, cigarettes and alcohol.
A detective who is investigating the case says the shopkeeper is recovering from his injuries but the psychological impact could be ‘substantial.’
Det Con Stuart Macquiban, from GMP’s city of Manchester team, said: “This was a terrifying attack on an innocent shopkeeper.
“Thankfully, he is recovering well from his injuries, but the psychological impact of crimes like this can be substantial.
“We have released CCTV from the store in the hope that someone can identify the people pictured.
“One of the masks worn in the pictures has a distinctive skull pattern on it and we hope that this or other features in the pictures might be recognised by someone.
