Paedophile on the run

- By ALEXANDRA RUCKI

POLICE are searching for a wanted paedophile who is ‘actively evading arrest.’

Mohammed Yaqub, of Radcliffe Road, Bolton, was released from prison in October 2014 after he was jailed the year before for possession of indecent images of children. Yaqub is wanted by officers who say he has breached his Sex Offender Notification Requirements and Sex Offence Prevention Order.

Police say the 55-year-old breached the order by owning indecent images on devices he hid from police.

GMP raided his address but he was not there. They believe Yaqub knows he is wanted and is actively evading arrest. He is known to have links to north Wales, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Leeds and Sheffield.

A GMP spokesman said: “Mohammed Yaqub of Radcliffe Road, was released from prison in October 2014 after being jailed in 2013 for possessing indecent images of children.

“He is wanted on suspicion of breaching his Sex Offender Notification Requirements and Sex Offence Prevention Order.

“Despite the best efforts of officers who have carried out lines of enquiry, we have been unable to locate him so far. Officers believe Yaqub knows he is wanted and is actively evading arrest.”
