NOEL’S PARK GIG ON EVE OF FESTIVAL

-

NOEL Gallagher will play a homecoming Heaton Park show on the eve of next year’s Parklife festival.

The former Oasis star will play with his High Flying Birds on Friday June 7, 2019, the night before the two-day festival begins.

It will be his biggest open air gig of 2019 and his first Heaton Park performance since Oasis’ infamous shows there in 2009, shortly before their split.

He’ll be joined by Manchester band Doves, who announced their return after a nine-year break. The group - brothers Jez and Andy Williams and bandmate Jimi Goodwin - have been on hiatus since 2010, when they played what they said could be their last ever show at The Warehouse Project. They have not released an album together since Kingdom of Rust in 2009.

The group teased their return last week with a cryptic social media post containing today’s date emblazoned over an image of touring luggage. Yesterday they confirmed they would be playing a gig at London’s Royal Albert Hall on March 29 in aid of the Teenage Cancer Trust.

Noel Gallagher and Doves will be joined at Heaton Park by Austin-based four-piece White Denim, who’ll be bringing their blend of rock, punk and funk to the bill.

The show will take place on the Parklife main stage, with a capacity of 25,000, before the festival itself, which returns to the park Saturday, June 8, and Sunday, June 9.

Tickets go on sale this Friday at 10am.
