Nash win delights Rebels manager

- NON-LEAGUE By ALEX HENDLEY

FC UNITED boss Neil Reynolds was ‘over the moon’ at his side’s 2-0 win over Curzon Ashton at Broadhurst Park.

Goals from Josh Wallen and Kurt Willoughby gave the Rebels their first home win of the season.

The home side got off to a flying start when Wallen reached a ball from deep to head past Cameron Mason after less than two minutes, and the game was wrapped up by Willoughby’s thumping finish with 15 minutes left to play.

The second goal came after a straight red card for Curzon’s Mohamud Ali following a crunching challenge with Michael Potts.

After the game, Curzon’s new boss, Mark Bradshaw, said: “Neil [Reynolds] came over to me straight away and said, ‘never a red’, but when you tackle like that you’re running a very high risk.

“It’s a disappointing aspect, but even with ten men I thought we showed great character.”

The result means FC United now trail the Nash by just one point and are out of the relegation zone.

Altrincham moved up to third with a 3-1 win at home to Telford United. Josh Hancock (2) and Connor Hampson got the goals against the Bucks, who had equalised through Daniel Udoh.

Stockport County drew 1-1 against Chester at Edgeley Park. The away side took the lead through Akwasi Asante, but Sam Walker levelled for the Hatters with a penalty.

Sean Reid and Robert Dale scored as Ashton United lost 2-0 away at Blyth Spartans, meaning they remain in the relegation zone.
