Beware of Grecians, Bunn warns his in-form Latics

- LEAGUE TWO By SAM CARNEY

OLDHAM Athletic manager Frankie Bunn says his players are full of confidence as they seek to extend their unbeaten run against Exeter City.

The Latics, fresh from a 4-2 victory over rivals Bury last Saturday, haven’t lost in the league since November 3 and can leapfrog their opponents in the League Two table with a win at Boundary Park.

Bunn said: “The performances have been really good, and they have been for the last six or seven weeks.

“Even during that time we’ve drawn a couple of games that we should have won, but confidence is growing.” The Grecians, despite being winless in seven games away from St James Park, occupy the final play-off spot, with Oldham two points behind in 10th.

Bunn is wary of the dangers the visitors pose, namely in the form of 11-goal striker Jayden Stockley.

“They’ve got a good squad and a frontman that scores a lot of goals and they’ll be dangerous,” he said.

“These games are always tough, close and competitive, so we have to be at our best.”

Long-term absentees Jose Baxter, Jonathan Benteke and Zeus de La Paz are still missing for the home side, but Ishmael Miller could return after serving a three-match ban.

Exeter boss Matt Taylor said: “They’ve got some really good attacking threats that have scored a lot of goals recently and showed what a good team they are.”
