Stalemates and loss mark North fixtures

- NON LEAGUE FOOTBALL By ALEX HENDLEY @MENSports

FOUR out of the region’s five National League North sides played out stalemates on Saturday, while Ashton United lost at home to Southport.

It was Jody Banim’s Robins’ sixth loss in a row as they couldn’t find an equaliser against the Port.

Jack Sampson and captain David Morgan put the visitors two goals ahead before Jordan Richards bundled Matthew Chadwick’s shot into his own net. Ashton remain second from bottom.

Altrincham’s Ashley Hemmings had a last-minute winner ruled out for offside at Moss Lane as they drew 3-3 with Darlington.

Josh Hancock’s header levelled out Tom Elliott’s opener, but the away side went into half-time 3-1 up thanks to goals from Harvey Saunders and Jordan Nicholson.

A second half comeback earned Phil Parkinson’s Robins a point with goals from Max Harrop and Hemmings.

Nyal Bell snatched a late equaliser for Stockport County at Alfreton Town, after a Reece Styche penalty put the home side ahead.

The draw keeps the Hatters in the play-off places.

Curzon Ashton were denied a win at promotion chasing Kidderminster with the last act of the game. Danny Morton put the Nash ahead, but the hosts piled on the pressure and in the 97th minute it proved too much, as Dan Bradley’s header flew past goalkeeper Cam Mason.

Four goals in the first half saw FC United twice come from behind to draw 2-2 at Leamington. Colby Bishop scored a brace for the Brakes, but Josh Wallen and Kurt Willoughby each levelled for the Rebels.
