FOLLOWING his side’s 3-2 defeat at home to Exeter at the weekend, Oldham manager Frankie Bunn says he is confident his team can bounce back quickly with today’s game against Carlisle United.

“It doesn’t matter where we go, we’re always motivated to win games,” Bunn said.

“It’s two losses in ten games, including the cups so we’ll pick ourselves up and go again.”

Bunn’s Oldham won their both of their matches prior to the defeat to the Grecians; however, they had worryingly only won two of their previous 12 league games.

They will now look to return to winning ways, and victory at Brunton Park could propel Oldham to within a point of the play-offs.

The Latics’ most recent victory against Carlisle came at Brunton Park back in 2014, a result which all but condemned the Cumbrians to relegation from League One, a fate which was eventually sealed a week later.

Since then, Carlisle have won the last three fixtures between the sides, including a 5-4 thriller at Boundary Park in the Football League Trophy.

In the reverse fixture this season, Bunn’s side went down 3-1 at home, with Ishmael Miller’s goal proving to be nothing more than consolation after Hallam Hope, Ashley Nadesan and Jack Sowerby had put the visitors in control.

This Boxing Day, both the Latics and Carlisle have the chance to shut down the gap to the League Two promotion pack, currently sitting four and three points off Forest Green in seventh respectively.
