HAVING a child born on Christmas Day is pretty special – but it’s happened to one mum TWICE.

Michala McMillan’s daughters Holly and Poppy Crowther were both born on December 25, Holly in 2014 and Poppy exactly a year later.

The 40-year-old was told they’d beat odds of 130,000-1 by both being born on the special day.

It’s been a busy time in their home in Bury as Michala’s been preparing for their birthdays and Christmas all at once.

She said: “It’s absolutely crazy. We do all the presents on the one day so there’s a trampoline for their birthday with banners on it and then separate Christmas presents. We did have a party for their birthday in November so they could have their friends round, otherwise I’d feel like they really miss out.”

Michala was induced early both times with her girls because of low platelets in her blood. Holly’s due date was January 26, while Poppy’s was January 17. After being induced at Royal Bolton Hospital three days before Christmas, Holly eventually arrived weighing 4lb, 12oz. A year later, Poppy weighed in at 5lb 3oz. Michala said: “When I was having Poppy I felt a bit upset being in hospital as I was missing Holly’s first birthday and Christmas. I couldn’t believe it was happening again. I said to them ‘I can’t have another baby on Christmas Day.’

“They did try to get me in early and I thought I would have her on Christmas Eve so I was going to call her Evie. In the end she came at 2am on Christmas Day so she’s was only just into that day. “It probably would have been just as crazy having one with a Christmas Eve birthday and one on Christmas Day.”

The girls spent Christmas Day with family at Michala’s mum’s. After a bout of sickness, Michala, who is separated from the girls’ dad Paul Crowther, is relieved they are all well enough to celebrate.

“I’ve been ill with a sickness bug and a cold and Poppy’s had chicken pox. I’m just glad we’re all feeling better as I didn’t want to be ill for Christmas and their big day.

“The girls are so excited and they love sharing their birthdays. They think it’s great and they tell everybody ‘it’s my birthday on Christmas Day.’”
