Change is all in the mind, says Solskjaer
OLE Gunnar Solskjaer says the only major change he has made to the United squad over the last week has been their mindset.
Solskjaer was appointed caretaker coach until the end of the season last Wednesday after Jose Mourinho was sacked on December 17 and has already overseen two victories, with the Reds scoring eight goals against Cardiff and Huddersfield.
Paul Pogba has quickly regained form. The Frenchman provided two assists in the 5-1 shellacking of Cardiff before scoring twice in the Boxing Day win against Huddersfield.
Pogba produced fine football sporadically under Mourinho but has shown consistency under Solskjaer, who managed the France international briefly in the reserves.
“No, you don’t in one week [change] anything,” Solskjaer said when asked if he had been able to change anything.
“But, the mindset. I want my team to play in a certain way and you give them little pointers here and there and it’s a work in progress, that’s what it is.
“It’s going to take time to go from one manager and details he wanted, and I’ve done a little bit of a tweak, so it will improve as time goes on and I was just saying to the staff as well towards the end where you go 2-0 up or 3-0 up.
“Next week we’ll have Sanchez, Martial back, you’ve got Lukaku to put on and really finish them on then.”
