GEORGIA: MAKING IT TO CHRISTMAS HAD SEEMED IMPOSSIBLE
FORMER Coronation Street star Georgia May Foote has opened up about her battle with anxiety, saying at one point ‘making it to Christmas seemed impossible’.
Georgia, who played Katy Armstrong in Corrie, has shared a moving post on her Instagram to show she’s got her smile back after being unable to think of herself being happy.
The actress, from Bury, is hoping her post can help other anxiety sufferers at what can be a difficult time of year, reassuring ‘it does get easier’.
She said: “I never knew that I could have such a cheesy smile.
“At one point thinking of myself being happy or even making it to Christmas seemed impossible.
“But I am here and happy. And I am extremely proud of myself. Christmas is a wonderful time of the year.
“But also a very difficult time for some. Please welcome those who you know are alone with open arms.”
She added: “I just want to say thank you for all of your support. And for all your lovely messages when I have been open about my own personal dealings with anxiety. I promise you it does get easier. And I hope I have helped you all as much as you have helped me.
“From the bottom of my now very full heart thank you xxx”
Last year Georgia’s Corrie character was killed off in a car accident after moving to Portugal and her ex Chesney Brown brought their son Joseph back to the cobbles.
After leaving Corrie Georgia was a finalist on the 2015 series of Strictly Come Dancing and she broke up with Sean Ward, who played Callum Logan in the soap, after her time on the BBC One dance show.
She then went on to date her professional dance partner Giovanni Pernice but they split the following summer.
Last year, she moved to Hollywood in a bid to find fame in the US and posted a string of photos showing her new life in LA – including one of her posing alongside movie legend Audrey Hepburn’s star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Georgia played Holly Golightly Hepburn’s most iconic role - in a nationwide theatre run of Breakfast at Tiffany’s after she left Weatherfield.
