City must up bid to £70m for Lyon star

- By JOE BRAY

CITY would have to bid over £70m if they wanted to sign Lyon midfielder Tanguy Ndombele in the January transfer window, according to reports.

Tuttomercatoweb say Lyon will only accept an offer of £72m (EUR80m) for their French international midfielder who impressed City in their two Champions League meetings this season. A report last week claimed City had a £45m bid rejected for Ndombele, with Barcelona and United also said to be interested.

However, City have also been linked with Ndombele’s team-mate Houssem Aouar, and Pep Guardiola has said they will not be making any major signings this month.

Meanwhile, Eliaquim Mangala’s potential move to Fenerbahce in January could be off, according to reports in Turkey.

Fotospor claim Fenerbahce manager Ersun Yanal has rejected the opportunity to sign Mangala due to his poor injury record.

The 27-year-old is out of contract in the summer and hasn’t featured for City in over a year due to a knee injury. Finally, City could wrap up their first signing of the January transfer window next week.

There are claims 15-year-old Espanyol prospect Oscar Tarensi will sign for City when he turns 16 on January 10.

The report claims City have been chasing the left-sided player, who can operate in defence, midfield or on the wing.
